December 6 & 7, 2014
Peace, love, and understanding,
What greatness they can bring.
During this season, especially,
The streets are full of smiles and symphony.
Our hearts grow tender, our sounds grow soft,
Our dreams soar free and aloft.
But why just this season alone?
When it ends, we return to being drones.
We curse and fight February to November,
And at Christmas time, we love like we can't remember.
Christmas, they say, is for hope and joy,
Yet we fail to see the poor and unemployed.
Our shopping bags are full of goods and toys,
But on our mouths, we speak of how we're annoyed.
This money could be for the widows and orphans,
And we find ourselves at stores spending large proportions.
Peace, love, and understanding.
If only we knew they're what Christmas really means.
